Syllabus
Still Life (1st Paper)
(1) Aims : To develop the ability to draw the shapes of objects neatly in pencil & colour. To gain the general understanding of tones. To Study forms and relatives proportions. To develop a general understanding of space organization. To be able to handle water colour & pastels and other mediums.
(2) Syllabus : To draw and color asimple group (*) of 4 to 5 objects placed in front of the students. The objects should be of good forms based on basic geomatrical shapes and they should preferably be colored.{* The objects may be arranged on the floor or above at some suitable height.} Students should be able to render tonal values in colors in very simple manner. Mechanical devices are not to be used.
(3) Suggested mediums :
(A). Pencil, waater colours, poster colours, oil or wax crayons, coloured pencils etc..
(B). These mediums may be used either individually or in combination.
Memory Drawing (2nd Paper)
(1) Aims : To develop the ability to retain and recall memory images. To develop the power of imaginative reconstruction and ability to express an idea pictorially.
(2) Syllabus : Simple familiar objects (animate or inanimate)to be drawn in pencil and coloured. To illustrate a familiar incident from daily life. To create a picture based on a number of given animate or inanimate objects.
(3) Suggested Mediums :
(1). Pencil
(2). Transparent & or opaque water colours or oil or wax crayons.
Design (3rd Paper)
(1) Aims : To develop creative expression. To understand the simple principles of design such as balance, proportion and rhythm. To develop the ability to apply these principles creatively for specific purpose. To develop a sense and understanding of colour harmony and its effect.
(2) Syllabus : Any type of decorative design-floral, geometrical or abstract, to be executed in colour, with a definite purpose. Any kind of motifs such as geomatrical shapes, birds, animals, fishes or any abstract forms may be composed to form a design. The design may besymmetrical or asymmetrical.
(3) Suggested Mediums :
(1). Pencil
(2). Water colour (transparent &/or opaque.)
Geometry, Solid Geometry & Lettering (4th Paper)
(1) Aims : To understand various geometrical shapes and their construction. To develop ability to use these shapes for making pattern by overlapping. Juxtaposition or interlacing of whole shapes or parts thereof. To inculcate accuracy and neatness in mechanical type of art work. To understand the old and new forms of lettering in general. To understand elementary (basic) solid geometry and scale drawing.
(2) Syllabus :
(A) Geometry-same as that for Elementary grade examination.
(B) Scale Drawing and Lettering including Solid Geometry-
(a) Making a scale of given measurement.
(b) A little or heading to be set out in pencil or ink and/or colour in the given scape and size to a given scale.
(c) Lettering in Roman or Vernacular scripts. Any variation of form is allowed.
(d) Knowledge of drawing in an upright position, the plan and elevation of simple solids, viz, cube, prism, cone, pyramid, cylinder and sphere.
Suggested Mediums :
(A) Pencil or ink for Geometry
(B) Ink or water colours for Lettering.
